Going Blank puts a personal spotlight on Alzheimer's that highlights both personal and universal experiences. The first chapter, Perry: Forgetting How to Fly written, produced and edited by Christine Knowlton, is a lyrical vignette of a man's journey from literature and falconry into the debilitating grip of the disease. Archival clips and photographs are layered with animated illustrations and a reflective narration. In 2006 the student version of Going Blank/ Chapter I , edited to 'Isn't Life Strange' by the Moody Blues won third place in the international StudentFilmmakers Magazine Summer Shorts competition. After Richard Martinez composed an original score it won the NMG 2007 Dig-It-All Film Festival Best Documentary Short and previewed at 'Sight and Sound: Filmmakers and Composer Collaborate' symposium.
