Miss Bertram has been personal secretary to Mr Palmer for 11 years. They've been through the mill together, particularly recently, as his nasty divorce is finalized. Everything changes one day when an unfortunate incident involving Mr. Palmers ex wife prompts him to declare his undying love for Miss Bertram. At first she is thrown into a tizzy as she is plunged into the unfamiliar world of contraceptives and lingerie but as Miss Bertram slowly awakens to her life's possibilities, Mr. Palmer starts to show an unusual interest in his junior secretary's brassiere and seems to be spending a lot of time on the phone with Tristram Honeyfield, leading us to wonder if the long suffering Miss Bertram is setting herself up for disappointment.
